Edison Gem Model A Phonograph 1899 Key Wind NiceEarly edison keywind gem model a with special gem only carriage adn reproducer circa 1899 serial number #g30352 the last number on the patent plate is 1898. Offered directly form my collection with no reserve! Working (one 2 minute cylinder per wind of course) and looking entirely very presentable is the wonderful early gem. This model has the original style special gem carriage and early special style reproducer (rebuilt and tested working fine) that fits in the special carriage. This reproducer will not work on any other edison model, it aws exclusive to the early gem. The horn pictured is not included and will be offered in another auction. This machine although working is more of a display piece. It is equipped with a crane mount (on the endgate) and you cna use a gem crane and horn on this if you wish. I have these itesm but they are not included in this auction. I will put them on in a separate auction. This machine looks great on a dresser, bookcase, or shelf and is a great accessory for both the phonograph collector as well as the decorator. I prefer the term hard to find instaed of the much overused rare here on ebay. This machine in this condition is hard to find. The machine is ni very good condition, some light rust, paint chips or fading. Pinstriping is visible but in some areas worn off. Pelase look at the pictures, you can see that it is in above average condition. I don't think the key is original, it came with the machine when i bought it. It could be an original but i do think that it is highly likely to have been replaced. The base plate is in good condition and there is a case included with htis but it is not the correct type and it has obvious veneer damage. I will include it as ti will protect the machine when shipped and when stored in your home. It is not the correct lid and it is not in good condition. I believe the oriignal type lid for this machine is a branded or stamped logo type and not the decal type. These machines weer frequently sold without bases and lids.
